9 Days Uganda Gorillas, Chimps and Wildlife Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by a professional guide from Gorilla Quest Africa and transferred to your luxury hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre or enjoy a sunset walk by Lake Victoria. A delicious welcome dinner will be served as your guide briefs you about the exciting safari ahead.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, drive north toward Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Here you will enjoy a guided walking safari to track rhinos in their natural environment, contributing to conservation efforts. Continue to Murchison Falls and stop at the top of the falls to witness the dramatic Nile crashing through a narrow gorge. Later, check into your luxury lodge along the Nile River for relaxation and dinner.

Day 3: Game Drives and Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls

Today begins with a sunrise game drive on the northern bank of the Nile. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, lions, and large herds of buffalo. After a bush breakfast, return to your lodge for relaxation. In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along the Nile to the base of the falls where hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife thrive. An optional hike to the top of the falls offers stunning views. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening.

Day 4: Murchison Falls to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, set off for Kibale National Park, known as the primate capital of the world. The scenic drive passes through lush countryside, tea plantations, and crater lakes. Arrive in the late afternoon and check into your forest lodge. Depending on time, you may take a guided walk around the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, famous for its birdlife and monkeys. Relax in the evening as you prepare for chimpanzee trekking the next day.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest

Today you will embark on an unforgettable chimpanzee tracking experience. After a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, you will venture into Kibale’s lush rainforest in search of chimpanzees. Once you find them, you will spend an hour observing their behavior, listening to their vocalizations, and watching them interact in their natural habitat. The forest is also home to other primates and over 300 bird species. Return to your lodge for lunch and an afternoon at leisure.

Day 6: Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular safari destination. The route offers spectacular views of the Rwenzori Mountains and crater lakes. On arrival, check into your lodge with sweeping views of the park. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive across the Kasenyi plains where lions and large herds of Uganda kob are frequently seen. End your day with dinner overlooking the African wilderness.

Day 7: Safari and Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel

The channel hosts one of the largest concentrations of hippos in the world, along with crocodiles and countless bird species. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Departure

This is the most exciting day of your safari, the gorilla trekking experience. After a briefing, set off with expert rangers into the dense forest to track a gorilla family. Once found, you will spend a magical hour watching them feed, play, and interact. This intimate encounter with mountain gorillas is one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth. After your trek, return to the lodge for lunch before being transferred back to Entebbe for your evening departure flight.
