At Gorilla Quest Africa, we understand that travel plans can change due to unexpected circumstances. Our cancellation policy is designed to be clear, fair, and aligned with international travel standards while also reflecting our operational realities in Rwanda and the wider East African region.

1. How to Cancel

All cancellation must be submitted in writing via email to: info@gorillaquest-africa.com
Your cancellation will be effective from the date of receipt.

2. Refund Structure (Excluding Non-Refundable Items)

31 to 60 days 50% refund

No-show or trip abandonment No refund

Note: Refunds apply to the land cost portion only. All refunds are less any bank transfer or processing fees.

3. Non-Refundable Items

The following costs are non-refundable under any circumstances:

  • Gorilla & chimpanzee permits (issued by the Rwanda Development Board or
    Uganda Wildlife Authority)
  • Flight tickets (domestic or international, unless refundable per airline policy)
  • Hotel bookings with non-refundable conditions
  • Bank fees, credit card charges, or third-party processing costs

4. Force Majeure (Unforeseeable Events)

In cases of natural disasters, pandemics, political unrest, or border closures, Gorilla Quest Africa will work to:

  • Reschedule the trip without additional rescheduling charges, subject to
    availability.
  • Negotiate with suppliers (e.g., lodges, park authorities) to transfer or credit
    applicable amounts where possible.

However, refunds under such circumstances may not always be possible due to
third-party restrictions.

5. Postponement / Trip Rescheduling

You may reschedule your safari once, free of charge, if requested 30 days or more
before the tour start date.

  • Postponements requested less than 30 days prior to travel may incur additional
    costs.
  • Postponed trips must take place within 12 months of the original date.
  • Price adjustments may apply depending on seasonal changes.

6. Partial Cancellation (For Groups)

  • If one or more group members cancel, the total cost of the safari for remaining
    travellers may increase.
  • We will recalculate the per-person rate accordingly and inform you of any
    changes.

7. Processing of Refunds

  • Refunds will be processed within 30 working days of receiving the cancellation
    request.
  • All refunds will be made via the original payment method, and Gorilla Quest
    Africa is not responsible for delays caused by banks or international transfer
    platforms.

8. Highly Recommended: Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that includes:

  • Trip cancellation or interruption
  • Emergency evacuation
  • Medical coverage
  • Baggage and personal item loss
